Liga de Expansion MX

The Liga de Expansión MX is the second tier of Mexican football, created in 2020 to replace the old Ascenso MX as a development league for clubs and young players. Like the top flight, it is played in two short tournaments each year, the Apertura and the Clausura, each settled by a knockout phase, but it operates without promotion and relegation to Liga MX, so its champions are crowned within the division itself.
