Associação Académica de Coimbra, founded in 1887, is one of the oldest clubs in Portugal and the sporting arm of the city's historic university. The students have lifted the Taça de Portugal twice, in 1939 and in 2012, beating Sporting in that second final. Their home is the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, also known as Estádio EFAPEL, which holds around 30,000 spectators.
