Co-organizer and host, Mexico wants to cancel the elimination from the 2022 groups (the first since 1978). On the bench is Javier Aguirre in his third era with Tri, fresh from triumphs in the Gold Cup and Nations League. Mix of veterans - above all Guillermo Ochoa, in his sixth World Cup - and talented youngsters like Gilberto Mora. Starting goalkeeper Luis Malagón is out (ruptured Achilles tendon).
