Meshakhte

FC Meshakhte was founded in 1938 in Tkibuli, the mining town of the Imereti region, and its name recalls the miners who gave the club its identity. It was champion of the Georgian Soviet league in 1980 and 1981 and won the republic cup in 1964 and 1976, before returning to the national top flight in recent seasons. Its home is the Vladimer Bochorishvili stadium, which holds about 6,000.
