South Korea: K League 2

K League 2 is the second tier of football in South Korea, ranked directly below K League 1. It was launched in 2013 as the K League Challenge and took its current name in 2018, and its field mixes corporate-backed sides with the community and municipally owned clubs that give Korean second-division football much of its character. Played through the calendar year, the season ends with the champions promoted automatically and the remaining places settled in play-offs, including a decider against a K League 1 club.
